Repair of blinds
Everything about repairs on your own or with the help of specialists.
Practical information about repairs.
Blinds according to their functional design are either horizontal or vertical.
3) Roman and other types of curtains;
Ordinary roller blinds.
Roller blinds are of open and closed types, and consist of a shaft that is attached to the wall on brackets on the sides, a mechanism, which allows you to control the movement of the curtain up and down and the fabric. In closed roller blinds, there is also a box inside which a shaft and fabric are placed, and vertical guides made of aluminum.
In operation, such curtains are unpretentious and will last a long time with their careful use.
However, over time, some breakdowns are not ruled out. This applies primarily to the roller blind mechanism, which is of several types.
If for some reason the roller blind has stalled and stopped moving, do not try to pull it hard by the cord. We advise you to call a specialist to fix the breakdown. However, some minor repairs can be done on your own.
It happens that the curtains in the open state does not fall. The bottom bar, where the end of the curtain is clamped, can get stuck between the shaft and the window sash. In this case, it is enough to push it gently down so that the bar is released. If you have a closed type curtain, it is impossible to get to the bar from above without dismantling the box. Here the help of the master is needed.
It is not advisable to independently disassemble the roller blind mechanism without the presence of special tools and knowledge.
If there is a mechanical failure of any plastic or metal parts of the curtain, they must be replaced with new ones. The most common breakage of open-type curtains is mechanical damage to the brackets to which the shaft is attached. This is usually due to careless operation. Simply put, with a strong opening, the window sash touches the neighboring curtain located on the blind sash and further, with increasing pressure on the curtain, due to a draft or inattention, rests against the bracket, bending and breaking it. You should be careful - the curtain may fall, the fabric will wrinkle and lose its shape. Brackets need to be replaced.
In order to minimize such breakdowns, initially during installation, curtains with metal brackets should be installed. Or repair the curtain by re-gluing the canvas to a stronger shaft, which is held by powerful metal brackets.
You can also install a little-known lock-comb on the window, which will prevent the window from opening too much during drafts. Such combs can be purchased from us, go to the website section "Promotions". They securely fix windows and doors and are quite affordable.
The fabric curtain fabric is fixed to the window sashes in the same way as in horizontal blinds. These can be special plastic clips, or magnets, or fixation on a fishing line or cable.
The occurrence of malfunctions in the operation of the fixation and their elimination are similar to those encountered for horizontal blinds, and are carried out by a specialist right on the spot, in rare cases with the dismantling of the entire curtain.
With prolonged use, the fabric of some roller blinds can be replaced with a new one. Replacement is usually carried out in special workshops for the assembly of curtains and takes place in one working day. To replace, you need to call our specialist, who will qualitatively dismantle the old and replace the curtains with a new one.
Installation of new curtains requires certain skills, so it is better to leave it to the master, by calling the latter at the numbers listed below on our website.
These curtains differ from the usual ones primarily in the special structure of the canvas, in which translucent stripes are replaced by opaque ones. Two sheets of fabric during movement completely block the light flux, or, overlapping each other, form gaps for light.
Such a curtain can be used in the "day-night" mode, or, if desired, fully lifted up.
Note that due to the thinner structure of the translucent strips of the fabric of these curtains, their operation should be treated more carefully, since otherwise the fabric can be damaged. No holes in such a fabric are sewn up, because the seams will prevent the fabric from wrapping perfectly on the shaft; when lifting, the curtain will skew.
It also excludes the ingress of any foreign objects on the fabric, or in the space between the tissues. This should be taken into account especially in the presence of insects in the room, which can get between the fabrics and disrupt the operation of the curtain.
Curtains Roman, Austrian, Japanese.
Curtains Roman differ from rolls in the way the fabric is assembled when it is lifted up. Rods are sewn into the fabric, located horizontally, rings are attached to them and when lifting it is going to "accordion".
Please note that when the curtain is raised, it is impossible to completely free the light opening of the window, usually there is a space at the top with a width of 10 or more cm. If Curtains Roman is attached to the opening of the window, then this feature must be taken into account so that the opening opens completely and the curtain does not interfere with the opening of the window sashes.
It is advisable to provide the final installation to specialists who can be called by phone numbers listed on the site.
Repair of such curtains most often comes down to replacing rings and controls. Depending on the type of mechanism (open or closed), these can be thin ribbons or cords. You should not replace the threads yourself, since their installation requires special knowledge of the curtain mechanism.
If any parts of the mechanism shown in the photo below are broken, then it is better to replace the cornice with a new, different type. Since these cornices are out of sale and accessories for them are hard to find.
Two types of cornices for Roman blinds are now common. In curtains with a closed type of cornice (it is also sometimes called the "backstage" system) the whole mechanism is placed inside the aluminum profile.
Such curtains are more reliable and maintainable than products with an open type of mechanism. But the latter, due to their simplicity, win in price and are more common on the market. They are made on the basis of a cornice for horizontal blinds.
Sometimes, due to mechanical failure, it is necessary to replace the thread winder mechanism. In this case, the curtain mechanism is completely disassembled, with the replacement of failed elements.
Unlike roller blinds, Roman fabric is easy to remove. It is fastened with Velcro to the body of the eaves. This fabric, as opposed to rolled, You can even wash it, but in a "gentle" mode. To do this, metal rods and the bottom bar are removed from the curtain, the cords are untied and the curtain is removed from the eaves.
Austrian curtains are almost identical to Roman curtains in terms of functionality. They differ only in that the fabric in them is not stitched with horizontal rods, and rises not "accordion", but "waves". Care and repair of these types of curtains is similar to Roman ones.
Japanese curtains are essentially a set of two, three or more rectangular pieces of fabric that are assembled one along the other and moved apart to the sides like a flat screen. The failure of these curtains is usually located in the mechanism assembly.
Our masters will quickly adjust or replace faulty elements.
In addition to repairs, you can make order new curtains with us. Like all of the above types of curtains, it is advisable to leave the installation of Roman blinds to qualified specialists, who will select the optimal type of curtains and provide a wide selection of colors and fabric structures.
Recommendations for the care and cleaning of roller blinds and Roman blinds.
Curtains are usually cleaned in a "dry" way from dust, without removing, with the help of any whisks, brushes for furniture and cleaning, for example, figurines. When washing windows, major cleaning of the room or cooking in the kitchen, when the curtains may be prone to contamination, it is advisable to lift the cloth up. If for some reason spots still appear, the curtain can be cleaned with a soft sponge, Ph neutral solutions, powders, detergents, or stain removers on a natural basis. Do not rub the fabric. After cleaning, the detergent is washed off and the curtain is dried in the open.
Curtains made of special "Aqua" fabric and the like, due to their water-repellent properties, are not afraid of regular washing and are best suited for installation in bathrooms and pools.
